About us
What a class is like
Everything is provided. You turn up with nothing and go home with something you made — the materials, the tools and the instructions are all there, and so are we, for the whole session.
Most people who come have never tried that particular craft before. That is rather the point: a class is a couple of hours to try something without buying a cupboard full of equipment first, and with somebody there when it goes wrong.
Groups are small on purpose, so there is time to actually help everybody rather than talk at the room.
Where we run
Classes are held at venues around the area, including Tanfield Lea Community Centre, Citizens House in Consett, and Whickham Community Centre. The venue for each class is on its own page — and if you book one and cannot make it, just let us know and you can usually transfer to a different venue that month instead.
Why we do it
Crafting is good for you. It gives you something to concentrate on that is not a screen, something to show for an afternoon, and — because most of ours are around a table — a couple of hours of other people's company. That is most of the reason we started.
Kits
Not everybody can get to a class, and some people would rather start at the kitchen table. The kits are the same materials and the same instructions, boxed up and posted.
